Create / Edit an eGOS claim

Starting a Claim

  • Go to Patient Record
  • From the Top Bar Select

Previous/ Incomplete forms are shown when you select this Option. You can View complete forms or Edit Incomplete ones to finish them.



  • On the right of the screen, use the Plus Button to start a Claim

  • When you create a claim, Nova will warn if there is a claim in progress, and will ask if you wish to select an Examination.

  • Only select 'YES' if the Patient's Exam has already been entered into NOVA.
  • If creating a  GOS1, choose 'NO, create GOS1 without a refraction'if creating before the Exam has taken place.



** You need a Sight Exam record for Each Claim. **



Patient Signature

  • Scroll down to check Patient details and their Eligibility for the NHS Test are filled correctly, then press the 'Record New Signature' button:


  • Once that has been selected, you will need to "Refresh" the webpage as described on the Signature Capture help page found here:

  • Once the webpage has been signed, you will return to the form
    Alternativelyif a signature has been captured on the patient record (In green below) NOVA will allow you to retrieve  that signature to the form, as seen below. (NOTE this must only be done on adult records and for those who do NOT require a carer to sign for them


  • Once signed, the signature will appear on the eGOS form.


Click 'Save form and exit' at the bottom of the screen. This will then be on the patient record, waiting for the Refraction to be added when the exam has been added and saved in NOVA.


Edit to Complete the Form


Go to:


  • Either go to Patient Record -> eGOS button, or select the eGOS option on the left-hand menu
  • Selecting the 'edit' button to complete the eGOS claim
  • Once completed, you can now submit the claim
  • Once the refraction has been added into NOVA, use the Blue button at the bottom of the screen, called  'Select Refraction':


Many Fields on the form are filled from the Sight Exam record for you as you do this

  • Fill in any other Relevant Fields where required.
  • You will see  Red Errors on the form where details are required which are missing or incorrect
  • You can view the errors by selecting the white button edged in red at the bottom of the screen. This will show issues as 'Errors Found'.

  • Once the Errors button has been selected, Nova will give details of what part of form needs completing.
  • The form will change to 'Ready to Submit' in the bar at the bottom when all errors have been cleared, and you can then 'Save & Exit'.
  • Submit the Form from the eGOS list by pressing the 'submit' button on the right of the claim.


Check Claims for any Rejections later that day.




Rejected Claim - Finding Claim Error

  • Press on the "Rejected" message, then a Blue icon highlighted below will appear:
  • The claims errors will be displayed, as seen below:
  • Edit the claim - make changes as needed, Save and then Submit again.
