This page details all of the user permissions available.


After making changes to the permissions, press the 'Save' button or to discard changes click the 'X' in the right-hand corner of the popup window.

Access Activity Log
Show / hide the 'Activity Log' option from the system menu.
Access Dashboards
Show / hide the 'Dashboards' option from the main menu.
Access Reports
Show / hide the 'Reports' option from the main menu.
Individual reports can also be hidden
Access Setup
Remove access to the 'Settings' screens, menu options are hidden. We recommend only allowing practice managers access to setup, to avoid unnecessary changes that could impact how NOVA works.
Authorise DevicesShow / hide the 'Whitelisting' devices option in device settings, anyone with this permission can authorise devices to access NOVA.
Close Any TaskAllows the user with this permission to close a staff task, even if they didn't open it. This permission id granted to Practice Manager roles by default.
Create and Edit Refractions
Allow / deny staff members the ability to create or edit refractions
Create and Edit Sight Exams
Show / hide the 'Add a new examination' button and the 'Edit' examination button, in the patient exam table on the patient's page. This option should only be ticked for staff members who are allowed to add/edit examination records. Viewing examination records is available to all users.
Create and Edit Users
Allow / deny staff members the ability to create new users.
Create and Edit eGOS Forms
Show / hide the 'Add a new form' button and the 'Edit' form button, in the patient eGOS table.
Credit and Refund Transactions
Allow / deny staff members the ability to perform 'Credits & Refunds' on transactions.
Delete AppointmentsShow / hide the 'Delete Appointment' button from the 'Actions' menu in the diary page.
Delete Patient Files
Show / hide the 'Delete File' button, displayed when editing the details of a patient's file.
Delete PatientsShow / hide the 'Delete Patient' button, from the 'Actions' menu in patient record.
Delete Sight ExamsShow / hide the 'Delete' examination button in the patient exam table on the patient's page. If unsure, leave this permission unticked to protect examination records.
Delete Stock ItemsShow / hide the 'Delete' button in the edit stock page.
Delete eGOS Forms
Show / hide the 'Delete' form button, in the patient eGOS table.
Edit CA Dictionary
Show / hide the 'New Item', 'Edit Dictionary' & 'Edit Sort' buttons in the 'More Options' window in clinical assessments.
Edit Doctors & SurgeriesShow / hide the 'Edit' (pen) button, in the select Surgery/GP window of the patient record.
Edit Past Appointments
Enable / disable the ability to change the 'Reason' on past appointments.
Edit Prices
Edit Recalls on Px Record
Allow / deny staff members the ability to add or change patient recalls from the recall component on the patient record.
Edit Refraction AddsAllow / deny staff members the ability to edit only the adds within a refraction
Edit Stock ItemsWhen unticked the following buttons are hidden in the stock screen: 'Download', 'New', 'Quick Price All', 'Quick Treatments', 'Quick Price' and 'Edit'.
Edit Test Date
Enable / disable the ability to edit the 'Exam Date / Time'.
Merge Patients
Override Hours
When unticked the 'Edit Hours' option is removed from the 'Actions' menu and users will be prevented from changing appointment times in the diary using the 'Edit hours for staff name' button.
Override Marketing Preferences

Take Dispense Deposit
Update Patient BranchShow / hide the branch drop down in the patient record, allowing a patient to be re-assigned to another branch.
View Chip & Pin LogsShow / hide the 'Chip & Pin Transactions' button in the activity log screen.
View Cost PricesShow / hide the 'Cost Price' column in the stock screen.
Void ItemsAllow / deny staff members the ability to 'Void Items' on transactions.
Void Payments
Allow / deny staff members the ability to 'Void Payments' on transactions.
